Sup y’all. We are putting the zine together! And also moving our website to a really great new URL (with hopefully some format changes in the future). News on both to come soon.  But for now, because we are between two issues — Snaxx (launched in Nov.) and Cults (upcoming) — we thought you would enjoy this image of culty pizza, a perfect intersection of the two.

Submission deadline extended to Jan. 31

Ok, CULT submission deadline is hereby extended to Tuesday, Jan. 31. 

Thanks to those of you who have contributed already! 
I’d like to emphasize that we would love to see your multimedia submissions — audio, video, animated gifs, powerpoint presentations, etc. We’ll be experimenting with putting things online in new ways and would be jazzed to:
  • hear your reading of a scientology poem (we could put the transcription in the print version)
  • see the animated gif you made of your favorite cult movie (we could put a few slides in print)
  • watch the video of you lighting candles during a witchy seance (we’d put some screen shots in the static zine)

SUBMISSION CALL FOR ++|||<CULT>|||++ (deadline 1/15/12)

Word up. We’re inviting you to SUBMIT TO WOMANZINE for our next issue, CULT. We welcome your interpretation of the CULT theme through all kinds of content, like:

  • Cartoons
  • Jokes, knock-knock or not or whatever
  • Personal Essays
  • News stories, real or fake
  • Photographs
  • Recipes
  • DIY projects
  • Illustrations
  • Poems, rhyming or not or whatever
  • Case studies on internet slang
  • So much more

If you will be writing a piece, please keep it under 1000 words. For graphic contributions, the zine is a half-page, but please remember that we will be using standard printers and may have some sort of printer margin, so bleeds will not always be possible. Deadline for submission will be Sunday, January 15th, but we are always accepting pieces for the Tumblr. So if you have any sort of time-based submission (e.g. audio, video, blingees), please let us know. For any more information, or to submit, email womansinc [at] gmail [dot] com.

For the uninitiated, WOMANZINE is a zine by women. It is always beautiful, sometimes absurd, and historically tongue-in-cheek. Our archives are available here on the Tumblr, if you need to familiarize yourself.
