Jenna Wortham, fan of our Emoji issue and the technology reporter for the NY Times, just wrote “Online Emotions, in Hundreds of New Flavors” about emoji. While this may be considered old news, Wortham specifically points out the new sticker fad in apps; an expert says it may be too late for them to catch on.
Stickers or no, we still don’t want to live a life without emoji.

Custom emoji for $50! But in not-the-best emoji set.

We’re not totally in love with this Kickstarter-in-progress emoji set for various reasons (including that the faces all seem to be caucasian), but we support the idea of free and open emoji sets.

Also a dream of ours: CUSTOM EMOJI! For $50, you can get “A completely custom emoji of your choice *not* from the standard set and to be included in the POE extended set. You choose what you want us to create into an emoji - it could be an emotion, a thing, a person, a logo, etc. and the tag you want us to use for it (it can not be a common tag). You will also be accredited for funding this emoji.”

Probs not going to fund, but at least we know it’s possible!
